Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Yfli Screen Recorder does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. All recordings are saved locally on your device. Crash reports are collected via Sentry for debugging purposes, which may include anonymized device information such as macOS version and app version.

2. Camera & Face Data

What we collect: Yfli Screen Recorder offers two camera features. Both are user-initiated and only active during a recording session:

Webcam Picture-in-Picture: When you enable the webcam overlay during screen recording, the app captures video from your camera — which may include images of your face — and composites it as a draggable overlay onto your screen recording. The camera feed is only accessed while the overlay toggle is on during an active recording.

Camera Recording: When you select the Camera Recording mode, the app captures video from your selected camera as the primary recording source. This produces a pure camera footage file — typically used for talking-head videos, course introductions, or personal messages.

How we use it: Camera video in both modes is used solely to produce the recording file. We do not perform facial recognition, facial analysis, or any form of biometric processing on camera data. The camera feed is never accessed outside of an active, user-initiated recording session.

Third-party sharing: Camera data is not shared with any third party. It never leaves your device. All processing happens locally on your Mac.

Storage and retention: Camera video is embedded into the recording file stored in your chosen local directory. The app does not collect, upload, or retain any camera data separately from the recording file. You have full control over the recording file — move it, delete it, or share it as you see fit.

3. Microphone Access

Microphone access is used solely to capture audio during recording sessions. Audio data is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded to any server. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

4. Screen Recording Access

Screen recording permission is required to capture your screen content. Screen recordings are saved to your chosen local directory and are not transmitted externally.

5. Crash Reporting

We use Sentry, a third-party crash reporting service, to collect crash logs. These logs help us identify and fix bugs. Data collected may include: app version, macOS version, device model, and stack traces. No personal files or recordings are included.

6. Analytics

We do not use any analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or user behavior tracking in our app. We do not share data with advertising networks.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
